All too often we are asked to muzzle our pain, anxiety, hurt or sadness as educators for the good of our students. When in reality, if we cannot take care of our own health, we cannot take care of them.
When tragedy and trauma occur, to be our best, we must put on our own oxygen mask first.
I'm not asking you to stop caring for the kids, just to breathe.

How does it work and why?
Many educators experience trauma at school. This ranges from students passing away, school violence, critical shortages causing backlash and behavioral incidents. Educator trauma is unique in that few outside of the profession truly grasp how these traumas play out. And often, we are left with the painful reminders that linger.
Whatever your story you’re welcome here in a community that gets it. Join a meeting. Listen, share, reflect, find an accountability partner, forgive and take control of your own story.

FAQs
Where does this method come from?
A blend of group therapy; some tenants of 12 step programs and feedback from educators over 20 years.
What’s the catch?
None. Seriously. The cost is your time, the benefit is up to you. It takes work for the process to work.
Why should I try this?
What do you have to lose? Educator trauma exists in every school in the U.S. Taking steps to process and feel better about it is your choice.
Who dreamt this up?
Hello!
Like many of you I’ve worked in education for two decades. I’ve had my share of student loss, staff loss, violence, natural disasters, tragedy and unavoidable trauma. I also happen to have training in trauma, resilience, a background in 12 steps and personal experience with trauma therapy. I just knew in my heart we all needed a space to work through these traumas. So here we are.
